If you love your margaritas, you probably can instantly tell the difference between a drink made with a Margaritaville machine and one made in a blender.
The Margaritaville drink has that perfect classic margarita texture and taste. It’s smooth, soft and fluffy. A blender-made margarita, on the other hand, comes out with chunks of ice floating in it. Something is missing in it.
Now, I’m not saying that you should never use a blender to make frozen margaritas. Some good blenders will whip you up a party-perfect glass of margarita. I’ve even reviewed several good brands.
But if you want to make killer margaritas, then margarita machines are the best. Here are a few reasons why.
Ice First, Blending Last
There is a big difference between how blenders and margarita machines make drinks.
In a blender, you put everything in the pitcher and press the button to blend. Everything is blended at the same time. It’s faster but results in chunky ice that doesn’t feel as good in the mouth and tends to melt quickly.
A margarita machine, on the other hand, is a combo of an ice shaver and a blender. Unless you choose otherwise, the machine will first shave the ice before blending all the ingredients.
This makes all the difference. The shaved ice flakes feel fluffy rather than chunky. The whole drink has a smooth texture that feels heavenly in your mouth. The ice melts more slowly so you can enjoy your drink leisurely for longer.
More Settings and Options
The thing I like most about margarita machines is the many settings, and options can choose to customize my drink. Unlike a blender which has settings for blending a wide variety of things from smoothies to soups, a margarita machine focuses only on margaritas.
The most basic settings are the manual blend and shave modes. These allow you just to blend the drink or only shave the ice.
So for instance, if you need more ice in your already-blended margarita, just use the shave-only mode. You can also use the normal shave and blend mode to do both at the same time. This is handy when you need a quick drink.
Here’s a quick video showing how this works.
Easy to Use
If you are hosting a party, you don’t want to waste your time making everyone margaritas. The best thing is to leave the ingredients there and let your guests make the drink themselves.
It’s so much more fun but only if you are using a margarita machine. It’s much easier to use compared to a blender. Anyone can make a perfect margarita.
Some margarita machines have preset for different types of drinks. If a guest wants a classic margarita, a daiquiri or a mojito, they just add the ingredients and press a button.
They can select the number of drinks they are making and decide how much ice they want in their drink.
Margarita machine pitchers come in several sizes so you can buy the one that best suits your needs. Smaller 36 oz pitchers hold enough margarita for 6-8 people. The largest ones can serve up to 30 people.
Some of the larger ones come with a spout. So you just place your glass underneath. You can make a full pitcher and let guests serve themselves at their pleasure.
I cannot finish without talking about their style. I know it’s not related directly to taste, but it somehow makes margaritas taste more perfect.
A blender looks like it belongs just in the kitchen. Take it to a party, and it suddenly looks awkward and out of place.
A margarita belongs to the party. The styling is just cool. Some models like the Margaritaville Tahiti DM3000 take it to the next level with features like bamboo wood and brushed aluminum.
Blenders are not all that bad. If you don’t mind some chunky ice in your margarita, a blender is perfectly good for making margaritas.
But if you want to make restaurant-quality margaritas to impress your friends, you should get a margarita machine. You can’t go wrong with any one of our best Margaritaville machines.
